Welcome to Girls Stand Strong!

I believe all girls have the potential to combine their intellect with their emotional world to create a life filled with choices and the ability to know which choices are best for them.

Girls are excelling in so many areas of their lives. They outnumber boys in college and graduate school enrollments. They generally outperform boys in high school and they are soaring into the professional world, but . . . girls are struggling emotionally and socially.

In my many years of working with girls and women, I have seen an alarming trend. We lack confidence in ourselves. This is where I come in.

I work with girls and women to help them build their confidence level. This is a three-step process.

First, you must recognize that your confidence level is lacking.

Second, you must be able to identify when and where your confidence level began to crumble.

Third, you need to replace the negative and destructive thoughts which keep your confidence level down.

It is possible to rebuild your confidence and to ensure that our daughters are getting what we might not have received when we were growing up.

Michelle Kelley, LCSW, Owner, Girls Stand StrongLearning how to build confidence is a learned skill. I work with girls in my classes and small groups to help them develop a skill set which will help them become empowered in their world. We do role playing, have open discussions and I encourage them to step out of their comfort zone when it comes to building confidence. This usually entails feeling scared. On the other side of the fear is . . . empowerment.
